The Cast

Baloney is a large family where everybody is welcome! Over the course of three years making the film, we had an opportunity to fall in love with each and every member of the cast and its our most sincere wish that the film extends that love to our audience.

Michael Phillis

Director

The first thing you notice about Michael is his beautiful smile and beachy blonde hair. And then you realize he is also one of the kindest, most caring and creative person you’ve ever met. His positivity is just downright contagious that its no wonder that he’s cultivated such a loyal circle of friends and collaborators, eager to help him bring his theatrical visions to the stage.

Michael as been making big gay art in San Francisco for the past 15 years. His original LGBT-themed plays and solo shows (D*Face, Dolls, The Bride of Death, Wish We Were Here, Patty From HR) have been produced in theaters, universities, festivals, & stuffy dark rooms all over the country. As the co-creator and director of the pioneer queer burlesque troupe Baloney he has produced over 25 shows in SF, Provincetown, and Palm Springs.

Rory Davis

Choreographer

Tough love. But mostly love.

Philadelphia born and raised, Rory’s ironic persona as the sleazy “Coach” Rory further demonstrates his outwardly enthusiastic support for Baloney’s performers. He brags that he can teach anybody to dance in 60 minutes or less, that all you need is a little confidence in yourself.

Dressed in his iconic short green shorts and white “Coach” tee, Rory has choreographed hundreds of dances, demos, and happenings for shows, events, street fairs, and celebrations all over the country. He teaches a weekly dance/fitness class RORYOGRAPHY at ODC in the Mission District of San Francisco. As the resident choreographer for Peaches Christ Productions, he has staged numbers alongside screen legends Mink Stole, Jennifer Tilly, Cloris Leachman and Pam Grier. He was also Cher's bodyguard for a single fateful evening and they both lived.

Ryan-Patrick

The 8th best legs in San Francisco, trademark pending.

RP (he/she/they) is many things - a performer, writer, singer, dancer and producer - but local fans of improv and experimental theatre may know him from the Neo-Futurists where he has been part of the cast for 7 years.

As part of Baloney, he is best known for his show stopping vocal performances and athletic gender bending dance moves.

Pablo Escobar

The sexy clown. Goofy. Hot. Kinda scary.

This bad boy of Baloney is the most instantly recognizable member of the cast with his distinctive brand of tattoos and muscles. By day, he is a personal trainer and by night he is a unique package of naughty freaky fun.

When Pablo takes the stage you would be wise to prepare yourself because something outrageous is about to happen. You never know what he is going to pull out from what.

You’re guaranteed to leave screaming and satisfied.

Aaron Sarazan

The straight bait. Yes, his wife knows he’s here.

Aaron has been in nearly every run of the show and plays the straight man in both the sexual and comedic sense of the term. He frequently acts a FOIL to Pablo’s antics or is getting seduced by Michael or another member of the cast.

Aaron and Pablo are best friends and they run a Baloney related webseries called Lunchmeat.

Joe Andrews

From finance bro to fitness bro.

Joe grew up on the East Coast. In his past life, he was a financial analyst in Boston but he found the work to be unsatisfying. He wanted something more fulfilling so he quit his job, moved out to San Francisco and became a personal fitness instructor.

As a performer in Baloney, Joe is the strongest member of the cast. Together with Andrew, they do all the lifts.

Andrew Slade

He’s a total sweetheart and super nerdy.

Andrew was a cheerleader in college so he has both the physique and training to do all the lifts in the show. But also - behind the scenes - Andrew is a bit of an AV nerd. He makes all the wonderfully imaginative background animations for the multimedia shows, drawing from his love of video games and fantasy.

He and boyfriend Jules are often the intermission entertainment, go-go dancing together on stage and inviting the audience to interact with them with tips and fun games.

Jules Llavore

He’ll make you squirm in your seat.

Jules is a nurse by day and at night, he lets the inhibitions go! Don’t be fooled by his shy exterior because Jules is down to try anything at least once.

He and his beau Andrew are so cute together and frequently share the stage but fans know when Coach Rory takes the stage with him, someone will soon be swimming in a tub full of baked beans and it’s probably going to be Jules.

Beth Miles

“Wait... There’s a woman in this show?!” Yes.

Beth is a brilliant artist. When she’s not on stage, she’s a graphic designer and painter.

But part of Beth’s brilliance, is that on stage, she can be anybody. One minute she might be a hot girl with a big whig and attitude but by the next act, she will have tranformed into a creepy scuzzy dude with a handlebar mustache.

“Daddy” Will

The father figure.

Like quite a few performers Baloney, Daddy had never. stepped on a stage or taken a dance class until he joined the troupe. In his past life, he was a competative diver.

Unfortionately for San Francisco, Daddy Will has since relocated to Southern California to persuit his tantra practice.
